Fresh Start Fitness a Success!

If you were not able to attend Fresh Start Fitness, I don’t think I can describe to you how amazing it was – but I’m going to try!  Hopefully I can recap it with pictures, so you can see the excitement, inspiration and motivation that this event created!  I had the idea for Fresh Start Fitness in October of 2010.  I really felt that January was the time for this event – connecting it with New Year’s Resolutions – but that didn’t give me much time to get it together.  I was blown away by the number of people that jumped on board right away – the venue, volunteers, workshop leaders and speakers were just as excited as I was. My good friend, and owner of Swizzle Events, Amy Thomas, jumped right in and made the day run perfectly – I couldn’t have done it without her! It all came together beautifully and was even more than I could have imagined!

When I woke up Saturday morning to a snow storm, I was a little bummed out. But as more and more people started coming in the doors, I knew it was going to be a great day! The program started with a welcome party that introduced the event, the Pound for Pound Challenge, and included a warm-up Cardio Kickboxing class for the whole group.

Throughout the day we had a great vendor area that included our Event Sponsor – ShineWorthy Lifestyles.

We had GREAT workshop leaders!  There was a workshop that taught about Exercise, led by Robin Kasten, and Nutrition and Clean Eating, led by Rebekah Downing, and even one that dealt specifically on Fitness for Seniors, let by Scott Hale.  We had kid’s workshops available as well – A Kids Crossfit area, led by Dr. Ed Thomas, a kids Hip-Hop class, led by Andrea Hatfield,  and a preschool Music and Motion Movie Time, led by Marie Ray.

Before lunch, we had a great Clean Eating Cooking Demo!  Janet Calvo talked about how clean eating changed her life, and showed us how to make simple, clean, substitutions in beef stroganoff. She even had samples for us all to try!

Lunch was generously provided by our Antioch Olive Garden and the Women’s Ministries of Lakeshore Christian Church.

I also brought in a local farmer, Cindy Delvin, of Delvin Farms to talk about the importance of eating local, organic foods. Her presentation was very imformative.

One of the highlights of the day for me was the Hip-Hop Moove & Groove Dance Party led by Andrea Hatfield of Groove4Life!  She is amazing!  Everyone had so much fun with her.

Before introducing our guest speakers, I wanted to introduce my own “Biggest Losers”.  I am so proud of these guys, and I wanted everyone to see what they have accomplished!  Rick Desmond, and Rachel Hollis came up to tell everyone about their weight loss journeys.

The day was also filled with drawings and prizes, and there was even a little dance competition for one of the prizes. 🙂

To top it all off, we had the most amazing Keynote Speakers!!  Jackie & Dan Evans from season 5 of NBC’s The Biggest Loser, shared a very inspiring presentation. They were such down-to-earth, genuine people.  The crowd loved the way they worked together, making us all laugh while at the same time motivating us to make positive changes in our lives.  They talked about the Reach Out For Life youth foundation that they heavily support, and Dan shared some of his amazing original music.  If you haven’t heard his song “Letter to My Addiction”, make sure you check it out! His album, Goin All Out, is available on iTunes.

Jackie & Dan stuck around after their presentation to meet and greet EVERYONE!

I was so impressed with Jackie & Dan.  Everyone who heard them, and were able to talk to them personally, was truly blessed!  I can’t wait to see them again at the Country Music Marathon on April 30 here in Nashville!

We are estimating that there was over 300 in attendance!

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR AN AMAZING EVENT!!!
