Weekly Challenge – 2.28.11

It’s not only the start of a new week, but tomorrow starts a new month!  And it’s not just a start of a new month, it’s the start of SPRING! I love turning off the heat and opening all the windows, putting away the winter clothes, laying out in the hammock while the kids play…but enough daydreaming. 🙂

This week’s challenge is a cardio jump start to get us going and ready for spring! This move works your entire core, and doesn’t require any weights, so it can be done anywhere. It also works your heart!

Core + Cardio = Awesome

Mountain Climbers

Begin in a pushup position on the hands and toes. Bring the right knee in towards the chest, resting the foot on the floor. Jump up and switch feet in the air, bringing the left foot in and the right foot back. Continue alternating the feet as fast as you can.

Beginners – 30 second intervals for 10 rounds (a total of 5 min)

Intermediate – 45 second intervals for 13 rounds (a total of 10 min)

Advanced – 1 minute intervals for 15 rounds (a total of 15 min)
