Have you ever said that? Maybe multiple times? I have! With any large undertaking, I tend to put it off until Monday. I actually put off taking my Personal Training Cert Exam for a year! I kept saying, I’ll schedule it Monday, I’ll study next week. Why do we do this? For me, I was overwhelmed with the amount of time I would need to study. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to retain all the information I needed to recall quickly for the test. But in the end, this was just a test, something that does not directly effect my health – not a matter of life and death. But what if it was?
Do you put off your health til Monday? Are you overwhelmed with the amount of work it will take to reach your goals? Are you afraid of failing? Our health IS a matter of life and death! Instead of putting it off til Monday, set small daily goals. Set a goal for today like eating 6 small meals instead of 3 big ones. Set a new goal tomorrow like replacing at least one soda with water. And the next day, commit to not skipping breakfast. Instead of overwhelming yourself with a huge goal like losing 50 pounds, take it day by day, with small, achievable goals. Before you know it, that large goal will be in your past, and Monday will be just another day in your healthy lifestyle!
